"Painting I made at the village of Lamin, close to the airport. In the picture women are collecting water from a stand pipe.
Looking back on this trip, I wish now I had taken up the option of an extra week and seen a bit more. But at the time when I came to leave I felt I had had quite enough, especially after the episode at the airport, (I was taken to a room by two policemen, where I was able to tell my side of the story, after a youth claimed I owed him money. To my surprise they said I could leave. I don’t know what happened to the youth, I was just glad to be getting out.) which soured what had prevbeen an enjoyable few days." - MH
