The Masai Mara is one of the best-known reserves in the whole of Africa and is globally renowned for its exceptional wildlife. The 'Great Migration' takes place from July to September and during that time over 1.5 million animals take part in this yearly event. However, with corruption rife, the increase in tourism and charcoal and arable farming, the half a million acres of ecosystem, and the animals that live there, may soon be lost forever.

" We spent two nights on the site and I am glad to say we did not get trampled under foot by an elephant or get savaged by tigers, though I don’t think there would have been a lot we could have done if some had come our way in the night. The two days we spent driving in the reserve I found really exciting. We were able to watch zebra, wild pig, impala, wildebeest, rhino, ostrich, lions, hippos, warthog, hyena and elephants as well as many different types of birds; and I must say I got as much pleasure and satisfaction from getting a good photo of the beasts as some people seemed to get from hunting them." - MH
