The Orange Walk district is a main production area of sugar cane and rum and is also known as Sugah City.

"I stopped here for lunch; I felt with such an attractive name this place had to be worth a few hours.

On my second and final evening in Belize City I joined the other travellers for a last meal together. The restaurant we chose was a Chinese one, and the first I had seen since Costa Rica. Though the food was poor it made a change, and after a few local beers even that did not seem so bad.

The next morning, with a little regret, I left my new found companions to enjoy a few  more days in Belize, while I headed off on my own once again, first on a bus to Orange Walk, then on to Crozal, the last town before Mexico's border.

Though I had only been with these travellers for a few days, it’s surprising at times how well you can get to know people when you’re together like this. I had really enjoyed their company, and felt a strange sense of of loneliness that first morning back on my own, even though I was able to talk with some of the other passengers on the bus." - MH
